Spreading the Word
As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT), all of you understand the value of your profession and what you provide. However, if you just take a step back and consider asking a member of the public:
“What is an MRT and what is the role is their role in healthcare?”
What do you think the response might be?
Being unified and promoting our profession will allow us to be heard and demonstrate our unique roles and values of the services that you provide.
The public will better understand.
Supporting the front line.
The term “front line workers” describes healthcare professionals that provide routine and essential services in a medical practice.
Often, they will serve as the first point of contact with patients, families and caregivers.
Are MRT’s front line workers – most certainly!
Many government agencies and employers do not recognize MRT’s as front line workers and as such do not give provide them with the recognition and respect compared they deserve compared to other professions example nurses and physicians.
Creating greater awareness through promotion will provide a better understanding of the profession of Medical Radiation Technology and the unique role that each MRT contributes in enhancing quality healthcare to the public.
